The Maverick, based on the Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs, is the first-ever pickup truck to come standard as a hybrid. The base powertrain is a 191-hp hybrid four-cylinder linked to an eCVT and front-wheel drive. It can propel itself on electric power at low speeds and we got an excellent 37 mpg overall. This mid sized truck is excellent for all of your running around, and with the bed adds the security of being able to haul larger items. A hybrid inline-four, a continuously-variable transmission and front-wheel-drive doesn't exactly sound like a recipe for an entertaining drive, but in the real world, the Maverick Hybrid is an unexpectedly spirited performer. The electric motor-and-2.5-liter-inline-four combo pair together to give it ample scoot off the line — more than its 7.7-second 0-60 mph time (as tested by Car and Driver) might lead you to believe. The interior is certainly tighter than the crew cabs you'll find in full-size pickup trucks, which offer leg- and headroom that would make a Maybach feel embarrassed. I suspect it'd be able to fit a baby seat back there — though maybe not every baby seat, especially if you have the front chairs pushed back — and it would certainly be usable for most kids up to the point of high school. So for all it's worth, this little truck can be a great everyday driver to the work horse many use trucks for. The Maverick melds the utility and driving experience of a pickup with the everyday suitability of a world-class economy car, giving drivers exactly the vehicle they need for all but the most extreme use cases. It's spacious, quiet, comfortable, economical, sturdy, and not even short on technology. (THIS MAVERICK HAS AN "R" TITLE). However this one in particular is in great shape, no issues.
